Heritage Animal Hospital has a fully stocked veterinary pharmacy which includes heartworm preventions and flea and tick preventatives shipped directly from the manufacturers.  We carry nutritional supplements to support joints, kidneys, liver, urinary system, skin, and immune health.  Our pharmacy has a full range of pharmaceuticals to treat medical conditions as they are diagnosed.  Once a treatment plan has been established by the veterinarian, medications can generally be dispensed by the end of your pet’s appointment.

Heritage Animal Hospital also works with multiple compounding pharmacies to formulate medications for some of our smaller patients or patients who do not like to take tablets or capsules.  Compounding pharmacies can formulate medications in special dosing preparations to make medicine administration easier in our less cooperative patients.  Ask our staff if a compounded preparation may be right for your pet.

Our hospital also has a full line of Hill’s Prescription Diets which are medicated and special diets to meet the needs of many of our patients who have different metabolic disease processes.  Special veterinary diets are often prescribed for kidney disorders, joint disease, gastrointestinal problems, and urinary tract issues to name a few.  Did you know that a special prescription diet can help your overweight pet lose weight?  Also, animals with kidney disease can benefit from a low protein and low phosphorus diet.  Ask our staff if a Prescription Diet may be right for your pet.

It is a Maryland Law that veterinary prescriptions can NOT be filled for any medications including Prescription Diets and Heartworm Prevention if the patient has not been examined by a veterinarian within the last 12 months.
